Welcome to our nano piece of paradise!
This is essentially a creative photo blog plus few words. It is about Sandra and Denny's gardens and surrounds. My granddaughter Adelyn calls me "Poppop", hence the blog name. We try to add new images once a week. Older posts are archived at page bottom. Click an image to enlarge. We're having fun. Please! Enjoy!

Life Thanksgiving Aplenty

Just when the gloomy late fall days may sometimes feel depressing, along comes new life, and family, and the bountiful feast. There is always more than enough to be thankful for. There is no end of beauty if we look with open mind.

November Air (and other simple gifts)

November nips. See-thru trees. Cold rains. Fleeting fading colors. Shiny bright berries. Glowing sunlit weeds. Snowfalls of leaves. Simple gifts.

Good Gourds and Garlic

Some wonder how Poppop garden will look in the midst of winter. Have no fear. Winter is like a good sleep. This garden will certainly awaken in spring re-freshed and full of vitality. As fall weather proceeds, there are endings and decay. Yet, nonetheless new color keeps a balance. We plant bulbs with eyes to the future when they will spring up to cheer the new year. One of those bulbs is garlic! We planted about 100 cloves. Next summer we'll harvest 100 multi-cloved bulbs. Garlic grows on you... it adds a wonderful spice to life! Then too, there are the fall GOURDS!
"mini gourds" they will dry out and turn brown over winter... frost is no problem

The numbers are finally in! Not bad... only about 1700 lbs to go for a world record!

... we captured this image of a witch steeling our strawberries...
We plant garlic to keep the witches away?

The fall sky never fails to be exciting, one way or another.
