Welcome to our nano piece of paradise!
This is essentially a creative photo blog plus few words. It is about Sandra and Denny's gardens and surrounds. My granddaughter Adelyn calls me "Poppop", hence the blog name. We try to add new images once a week. Older posts are archived at page bottom. Click an image to enlarge. We're having fun. Please! Enjoy!

Hydroponic Mary and Guinnevere

The last of the cookies are now stiff and crispy. The air outside is finally cold... almost. In two short weeks we should be near "the bottom", when historically we've had some temperatures in the negative teens! Yet here we continue to hover around 32 deg.
Oh well. We still gird for the worst. So poppop garden goes hydroponic! (Thanks Ed and Becky!) To help us through the long winter hibernation, we're growing "Mary" and "Guinnivere". What??? Mary the marigold. Guinnivere is the Zinnia. Cabin fever?...  ;^)
...You lookin at me?
We're lookin at you!

Looking for Something

Wow! It is snow!
Highly unusual weather this winter, but we did finally get a little bit of snow. These are random tracks the birds made in the snow around our feeder while they were looking for "something"! They're really really good at that! (Fun to watch too.)
These guys (and gals?) wandered through one day. Wild turkeys. Very nice to see...
Remember the orchid (Nov/2011) buds ?
Well, we have lift off!

January Out Takes

View of poppop garden in back. Where is all the snow?
January is winter here... or it's supposed to be! Very little snow so far, and it feels like spring with temperatures in the 40's many days. I'm not complaining. It's different and it's nice. It won't last. Winter wind and snow will come. Meanwhile we can walk in the back and in the nearby parks without the winter gear and try to find new ways to capture the beauty that is always there if you can see with new eyes. New photo software received for Christmas helps too! Some of these images will look a bit "different".
January Sunset in front (...thank you Sandra.)
Three last gasps in back... they're in the compost now.
