Welcome to our nano piece of paradise!
This is essentially a creative photo blog plus few words. It is about Sandra and Denny's gardens and surrounds. My granddaughter Adelyn calls me "Poppop", hence the blog name. We try to add new images once a week. Older posts are archived at page bottom. Click an image to enlarge. We're having fun. Please! Enjoy!

Deep Summer

our sunset swing sans swing
These depressions are "bird baths"  ... dust baths ...they like that!
consistent with the dry weather and the dust "bowls"... we do use the hose!
Even plantain weeds wither...
These are the same barn swallows we showed earlier... Mom and Dad made themselves at home on our Agave plant.
Thyme
The pumpkin.
Garlic curing.

Earth Abides With a Bounty of Booty !

Still very dry. Without watering, this garden would be toast. Even tough weeds are withering! We use soaker hoses to water locally and efficiently just around the "chosen" crops. Right now it's hard to keep up with the zucchini and yellow squash, even as we give it away. Eating peppers, cukes, onion thin-ings, and TOMATOES! The first fruit are pictured here, and the first DO taste sweeter. The other good news is that the garlic has been dug! Looks great. Twas a good garlic year... and now on to storage and the kitchen! Just finishing last year's supply, so the timing is perfect.

Hot Dry Summer (yet beauty never fades)

It has been hot, and it has been dry. We water nearly every day. Without water the plants will eventually succumb. Don't want that! All is doing fairly well. Veggies are starting to roll and we begin to struggle to deal with it all. At the same time flowers continue to surprise. All is well in the garden.....
so far!
Tomatoes are coming here soon!
