Welcome to our nano piece of paradise!
This is essentially a creative photo blog plus few words. It is about Sandra and Denny's gardens and surrounds. My granddaughter Adelyn calls me "Poppop", hence the blog name. We try to add new images once a week. Older posts are archived at page bottom. Click an image to enlarge. We're having fun. Please! Enjoy!

Cleaning up the garden. Cleaning up the image archive. These are images captured earlier in 2012. Could not let them go by... without a view.

Frost Kills

One hard frost. On schedule. Suddenly there are spectres of flowers past. Some trees just give up the ghost, and their leaves are down in the count of a day. We saved the peppers, but the plants are gone. Some birds were unimpressed. They still take icy baths.
Sun flower beast
Sad coneflower
Impaled leaf
Skeleton suns
Canna that can't
Cosmos after the big bang
Mourning dove
Downed leaves
Holes where the peppers used to be
Too many saved peppers

October Post

We are in that colored space between summer and winter. I always enjoy those first bold flags of red and orange that vibrate against the greens. Some times there is an underlying melancholy for me as winter approaches, as I let go of the fresh veggies. But the bursting colors just blow it all away. The veggies are fading, but many flowers still shine, with no concerns of coming frosts.
