Welcome to our nano piece of paradise!
This is essentially a creative photo blog plus few words. It is about Sandra and Denny's gardens and surrounds. My granddaughter Adelyn calls me "Poppop", hence the blog name. We try to add new images once a week. Older posts are archived at page bottom. Click an image to enlarge. We're having fun. Please! Enjoy!

Story never ending...

The story never ends... there is always something new in the world. All it takes is to go out and see. Even as the garden matures into fall there is always plenty of new precious luscious life to find! Here's a taste...
These are "love puffs" ...Sandra wanted to try something new.
Common portulaca... a local find that was well worth our bargain!
"Just" another hibiscus blossom. It happens every day.
Simple gourd blossom... deceptively beautiful
Young gourds ... beauty in the eyes of the beholder

Passing shots... getting into fall

As it becomes undeniable, the season change is a bit melancholy for me at first, but I do love fall. Today our garden is still yielding tomatoes, peppers, chard, summer squash, onions, herbs, cucumbers, and flowers. The corn, beans, and carrots are done and either eaten, gifted, or preserved for winter. Still to come are winter squash, pumpkins, gourds, soybeans (edamame'), and romanesco (italian cauliflower). The mexican sunflowers are now in full bloom, and they are simply great. The other sunflowers are beginning to droop, and the birds are feasting on the seeds every day. (They use gymnastics!) So, here are a few more sunny shots as well as some that might show the new moods and the feel of fall.

Stick

This morning we found a visitor, a walking stick. He's (she?) been in the same spot all day. I asked Sandra if she thought he was just waiting for some unfortunate bug to "come into range"? How did he get up to the 2nd story...no sign of wings. He is a walker. We could be wrong... Quite an interesting fellow!

Extract of natural Abstract

Endless sacred bold beauty is everywhere. We only need to stop, turn over a rock like a child would do, and look a bit more closely with new eyes and mind. This is one of the things I love about photography. It's always right there. Hope you enjoy the views!

Farewell to our august summer!

Summer fades slowly, until one day it feels like fall. We have had some of those fall-feeling days, but that's not a bad thing. Fall is good too. (It's that long winter that takes more of our resolve!) Enough musings. On with the last summer show!
